Safari gained few features, yet improvements when dealing with tabs and performing text search on a web page make it even easier to use. One great feature is that it allows reopening the last closed window, as well as all windows and tabs that were opened when Safari was last used (from History menu), providing an easy way back it in case a particular site makes it crash, or if you closed a page by mistake and want it back. Quick look on Leopard’s Spotlight

Spotlight feels more mature and efficient with Leopard. Small new features will improve the experience of using Spotlight. For example, web sites you visit are automatically indexed by Spotlight, allowing you to retrieve pages you visited recently based on their contents, right from Spotlight menu! Spotlight is now a great application launcher, for when you enter a few letters from an application name, this application will be selected among results, and you can launch it by simply pressing the Return key. And if the application doesn’t come up at the top of the list after you typed a few letters from its name, select it and next time it will appear on top automatically. Mail in Leopard features numerous improvements in many different areas. Data Detector is one of its greatest new feature, and allows detecting events and contact’s information, providing a tight integration with Address Book and iCal. Quick Look integration is extremely useful, allowing you to view various attachments from an e-mail in a flash. Stationaries and Photo Browser makes it even easier to compose great looking e-mails. With To-Dos, Notes and RSS, Mail goes way beyond managing only e-mail, and moves toward a personal information management system. Here is a quick look on this application in Leopard.

Quick look on Leopard’s iCal

iCal features major visual changes, making the application look quite similar to the Calendar found on iPhone or iPod Touch. It also features a revised toolbar, containing buttons to change the calendar view or to display today’s date, and a Search field in the upper right corner, consistent with other Mac OS X applications. Moving away from its English only contents from both New Oxford American Dictionary and Oxford American Writers Thesaurus, Dictionary now features several new Dictionaries. Japanese, Japanese-English, an international Apple Dictionary as well as full access to Wikipedia in the many languages it is available make Dictionary an even more valuable ressource. Let’s explore several of the new features from this application in Leopard.

Quick look on Leopard’s Finder

Finder’s ability to display files just like they would appear once opened make it a very powerful tool to compare different documents very quickly, or get the big picture over a collection of files. Due to the new Quick Look technology, these breathtaking previews appear in various contexts, either while browsing files using the new Cover Flow view that should be familiar to iTunes and iPod users, while using Spotlight to examine results of a query or by displaying a Quick Look panel by the press of Space key.
